Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Not on File

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
