Comedian and author David Walliams parted ways with longtime publisher.

David Walliams

Prolific children's author and comedian David Walliams has parted ways with his UK book publisher, according to an announcement.

An official for the publisher said: "Upon deliberation, and with the guidance of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was taken subsequent to an investigation into claims about conduct deemed unsuitable directed at women.

The publisher declined to specify the motivations for this action, stating: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams is one of the UK's most successful children's authors, having sold more than 60 million copies worldwide in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins in 2008.

A number of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into television films.

His bibliography includes over four dozen titles altogether, including a Christmas book named *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his work as a judge on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 honoring his contributions to charity and the arts.

This move occurs subsequent to the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss last fall.
