'Living a Nightmare': Relatives of Missing Teens Desperately Seek News After Ski Resort Inferno

The relatives of teenagers unaccounted for after a tragic inferno at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their family members online.

The inferno engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage reveal the ceiling catching alight as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have stated that it could take days if not weeks to identify the those who perished of the fire, which claimed the lives of four dozen individuals and hurt another scores more. Officials stated on the latest update that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work ongoing to name the other six.

In the waiting period, relatives have been posting on online platforms to appeal for information about their friends who were present at the venue that evening.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his mother.

The resident of a town near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had returned to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. It's terrible," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his friends had been found with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "There are no words; they endured a terrifying ordeal."

The Italian government has indicated that six of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

The Italian Golf Federation has said that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and authentic values."

His parent, is quoted as saying that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around the new year. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"Someone with him said they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive gold chain.

One of his teachers stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and smile, combined with great maturity. He would frequently offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are continuing to monitor the situation.
