🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Psychological Thriller That Blends Silent Hill with Among Us Gameplay The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase unveiled a number of intriguing future games, but one especially has captured attention: UN:Me. Created by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience appears to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "This is a unique experience where a girl containing several personalities inside her needs to flee from a labyrinth of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist who appears to be of teenage years. Within her exist four separate personas, each with their own fears and drives. These entities can take over spontaneously, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her suddenly. Judging by revealed footage, much of the narrative takes place within a creepy hospital, though additional clips depict the protagonist exploring a abandoned church. A World of Individual Dread "What are you fearful of? What causes you uneasy?" poses game director Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. Authority figures. Things that seem trivial to other people can activate a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — anxieties that are specific to each person." The central mechanic revolves around controlling whichever soul surfaces at a particular moment. However, these souls will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist one after another. When the soul changes, so does the specific fear the player encounters. Unsettling Aesthetics and a Deadly Decision At first glance, UN:Me displays striking visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The setting is populated by orderlies all sporting the identical visage, with unnervingly wide smiles. Figures in the waiting room have large blooms where their necks should be. Floral motifs are an ever-present element, juxtaposing organic elegance with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a unique twist. Players must determine which of the four entities haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four personas asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," explains a creator. "During the game, you must determine who is authentic." Once players believes a soul is fake, they are forced to destroy it. However, because each soul can deceive or hide the truth, it is incredibly simple to make a mistake. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the true [soul] with your own hands," a voice suggests. "The final entity remaining could be a fake. Either way, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a publicly announced launch window, but it is available to follow on platforms.
